Energy Assistance Program (EAP)
- For renters or homeowners
- For households with income at or below 50 percent of the state median income
- Based on energy cost, household size, and income
Services may include:
- Payment of energy bills
- Help with utility disconnections or fuel deliveries.
- Education on efficient and safe use of energy.
- Advocacy with energy suppliers and human service providers.
- Repair or replacement of homeowners' broken heating systems.
The Energy Assistance Program helps pay home heating costs and furnace repairs for income-qualified households. Assistance can cover payment of energy bills, help with utility disconnections, advocacy with energy suppliers on behalf of customers, and repair or replacement of homeowners’ malfunctioning heating system.
Applications must be received or postmarked by July 1, 2020 for EAP benefits for the 2019-2020 program year benefits. Applicants received after July1 may be eligible for the Weatherization Assistance Program, local funds, referrals, advocacy, etc. Applications denied due to the end of program year will automatically receive an application for the next program year.

Hennepin County Emergency Assistance Program (HCEAP)
This program is for Hennepin County residents who are in a financial crisis that poses a direct threat to their physical health or safety. The county may be able to help by providing short-term aid.
Hennepin County Emergency Assistance Program (HCEAP) provides short term assistance with foreclosure prevention, rent, damage deposit, emergency shelter, home repairs, moving expenses, utility bills, transportation for homeless families, and special diets.
